Easy Garlic Prawn & Broccoli Stir-Fry (Quick & Savory)

There is something so comforting about a sizzling skillet after a long day. For me, a great stir-fry is all about contrast—crisp broccoli, juicy prawns, and a luscious sauce that ties it all together. This Quick Prawn & Broccoli Stir-Fry is one of my absolute go-to meals when I want something fast, full of flavor, and far better than takeaway.

The secret to keeping the prawns beautifully tender? A quick marinade and a gentle flash-sear. Paired with a rich, savory homemade sauce, this dish comes together in just minutes!

Ingredients:For the Prawn Marinade

  • 400g Prawns (peeled and deveined)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp Vegetable oil

Ingredients:For the Stir-Fry Sauce

  • ½ cup Water
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp Dark soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch

Ingredients:Other Ingredients

  • 2–3 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 350g Broccoli, cut into florets
  • 6 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ½ tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 2 Red dried chilies
  • 2 tbsp Water (for steaming)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • Wash the prawns thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel (this is essential—excess moisture will boil the prawns instead of searing them!). Transfer to a bowl, add the salt, pepper, paprika, and 2 tsp of vegetable oil. Mix well to coat evenly, then set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the water, sugar, oyster sauce, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over high heat. Add the marinated prawns and cook for a couple of minutes until they turn pink. Note: We don't need to cook them fully at this stage. Remove the prawns from the pan and set aside.
  • Turn the heat down to medium and add the remaining oil to the same pan. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and dried red chilies. Sauté until the garlic turns a light golden brown.
  • Add the cut broccoli florets and stir-fry briefly. Pour in 2 tablespoons of water and quickly cover the pan with a lid. Steam for 1–2 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
  • Remove the lid, then pour in your prepared sauce mixture and return the seared prawns to the pan. Pinto a glossy glaze coating the prawns and broccoli.
